She sighed, and looked up to the moon's waxy glow:
how she longed to be impervious to night, to all.
Pressed for time, she whispered to her fingertips;
tucking the words away (with all the others) as soon as they fell out.

"I have become the flotsam and jetsam found upon sea;  emotional wreckage being pulled out by life’s continuous tides."
And an open window called, heavy with longing and mournful with dust
the winds arrived and swept the room: her breath danced amongst shadows.
Danced right out the room, she was flying, she was gone.

"I am no longer forgotten."

Senior year has begun, and I am left in a state of ambivalence: thank you all so much for your kind words and kind thoughts, I adore you all! I have been absent for a while, my brother is moving interstate in less than a week and I've not been able to bring myself to indulge in words (I am lacking sleep, drunk with fatigue - do I sound it?).

I hope you have all been wonderful~

  2. Dear Athena, this was perfect as always. You're a delight, you always are, and I just wish so much my words could match even half of what yours do. You're solid gold in a land of beautiful, sparkling gems, my dear-the most important of all.

I begin my year tomorrow and I'm so very nervous. I'm starting at an all new school, you see; shy awkward and unusual even when no attention is on me. I'm afraid and I'm not entirely sure where to go, but I'll hope for the best, all the same. I hope your brother has a safe trip and that more words come to you, soon...and that school treats you well, me belle.

    Love,
    Norah xx

  3. Athena, I have missed your writing a ridiculous amount.
It's Catherine, I was previously secretsoflaughter / a life in seven billion.
I've changed my URL and come back.

I've missed your whole blog in general actually.
    Love,
    Catherine

  10. Hello Athena! I really like your words, especially the part of about whispering to fingertips and the flotsam and jetsam.

so you're starting your senior year? Wow, I remember that. A lot of pressure, to be sure, but a lot of long-lasting adventures to be experienced as well. There are always surprises to be found at the end of something :)

  15. I find when you 'live' without words in life there is little to actually live in.
Wishful to be as graceful in composure as you are. The letters fit neatly one after another and it was as if they were set in stone. Something that touches the outer core but seeps inward.

May the wind carry her to where it sees fit. She can speak the language of the world. It will treat her well X

  18. Oh, you write so beautifully, so elegantly.

Thank you for your comment. Your so lovely to say that... believe me, it is more my honour than yours. I have never before met anyone with the same name as me. You're right... this is an exciting time!

I'd say my favourite books are 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Jane Eyre' and I also love most books by Cecelia Ahern and Lesley Pearse. My favourite books are romances, and I currently have such a long list of books that I want to read! I just wish I had more time. What about you, dear? Can you recommend anything?

    Enchanting to meet you :)

    Love always,

    x
