an ode to spring

Goodbye, to a lover -

I take
armfuls of butterfly memories to keep me warm,
but I fear: I cannot hold on
swallowtails, monarchs, birdwings:
a flood of colour fills the air
la fin n'a pas de fin
(the end has no end).

Farewell, the evening shadows are arriving -
you, you, you translucent, intangible,
I crave you, but -
the darkness
and ghosts
here, again.

It is Autumn.
--

An attempt to accept what has been, and what is now. I feel shy, all of a sudden. As though seeing an old friend for the first time in a while, and realising how you've changed - a faint blush.

This term break has been different from others: still well-received, but a little more busy with work. It has been spent rather well - visiting thrift shops, planning road trips, listening to The Strokes/classical music, study dates at the library - yes, I live quite a dorky life. I have begun thinking of my future; I think I may be opting for Medicine, and specializing in Paediatrics [essentially working with children]. But oh, sometimes Psychology tugs at my heart-strings.

Decisions are to be made, but I realise I need to take care of the now - I apologise for the incessant stream of words -
I send you my love, always:

x

  7. Staccato, certainly, but no less beautiful. You make every word you touch absolutely golden, Athena, you are quite the talent. xx

  8. You always right so purposefully Athena even if you don't mean to,
" an attempt to accept what has been, and what is now" this rings so true to me always, but I find it so difficult.

I'm currently trying to get people to try out for wjdkyy. I would be so grateful if you did. Or gave a shout out.

    All my love for everything.

  11. Goodness, the poem is amazing! I love the tension between calm and panic. My favorite image though is:

    "I take
armfuls of butterfly memories to keep me warm"

Ahhh. So pretty. I feel warm when I read that line.

Take your time with your decisions. Both ideas sound great, but the more you explore both avenues, the better of an idea you'll have of which one you want to do :)

  16. Gorgeous.

The butterflies never left my stomach. I'm going to keep them forever, even when the colours fade and I remember them differently.
